Guess what, today is National Hat Day, and if I know my video producer at all she’s probably spending all of this time putting fake hats on my head, as I do this intro. This is not the only good link that we’ve got, we’ve got a whole bunch more, I’m Victor Medina, and this is Five Fact Friday.

Hey everybody, welcome back to Five Fact Friday, I’m Victor Medina, this is hosted on the Medina Retirement Planning channel here on YouTube, where we help everybody keep their nest egg protected, and I’ll try it one more time so you have a blooper. Everybody welcome back to Five Fact Friday, I’m Victor Medina, this is hosted on the Medina Retirement Planning YouTube channel, this is the only place where you can find all of the information you know, to get your legal ducks in a row and your nest egg secure, which reminds me that is the tagline for my radio show, and I am happy to announce that our radio show is relaunching on April 10th, on 920AM which is auto Trenton’s the ESPN network. So if you were looking for more and more content from me you have the opportunity to do that, we’re gonna be broadcast on Saturday mornings at 10:00 a.m. and we also are going to rebroadcast that on our subscriber feed. So if you listen to podcasts, you might wanna ask your grandchild how to subscribe to one, but we do have that show that is actually simulcast on Spotify, on the Apple podcast, on Android basically anywhere that you can find it you’re gonna have an opportunity to listen to the show. And I’m excited for the new format ’cause we actually do have a cohost which means that it can break up all of the hour of me talking with somebody else talking and it’s actually gonna be a great conversation, his name is Mark Elliot and we’re happy to welcome him to the show. So anyway, April 10th, 920AM starting at 10:00 a.m. Subscribe if you want it on your Apple device thingy and if not, listen live again really excited to be able to bring our show back to the community and excited to share that with you.

Now, I wanna get into the links for this week but before I do I wanna let you know that we have a special webinar coming up for both our clients, friends of our clients and the general community, and it talks about how to save taxes in retirement. Coming up on Wednesday, in the evening around 5:00pm. Don’t miss this webinar because here’s the thing in retirement, your biggest partner is the IRS, he’s a silent partner and Uncle Sam gets to take as much of your retirement as he wants, he gets to change the rules whenever he wants and so we wanna be able to make sure that we help you plan to pay the least amount of taxes in retirement. And the webinar we’ll begin that conversation, it’s gonna be chock full of really great information and I think that you should register.

So let’s get to the links for this week, and the first link is what I am reading, and it is the link that brings us to the very beginning of the video which is it’s National Hat Day. I love hats, as you can tell, I have no hair, and because of that, I have to wear them regularly to not only keep my head warm but also keep it from being sunburned. So I am a big fan of hats, but what they’re doing is they’re taking National Hat Day to raise awareness for brain tumors and do some fundraising. So check out the link and see if it’s a cause that you might be interested in supporting.

The next link is actually a fascinating one, it’s what I’m watching, and it is the effects of herd immunity as demonstrated with a number of mousetraps and ping pong balls. So if you ever wanted really understand the way the math works or how we could stop the spread of the coronavirus by using herd immunity or a combination of vaccines and herd immunity this is a video that you absolutely want to watch.

The next link is what’s new in tech and it is actually a ranking of all of the streaming services since we hit the pandemic. Yeah, everyone’s been on their streaming services, and every conversation that I’ve had with neighbors or with friends is what should I be watching now? What’s the newest thing on there? In fact, all of the streaming services are all competing to have something interesting for you to watch, these days it’s not even really sure what it is, it doesn’t really matter as long as it’s something interesting because we’ve probably gone through the entire catalog. I will give you my two recommendations of things that I am watching currently that I really, really liked. One of them is called the “Collateral” and the other is “Bodyguard” they are both on Netflix. Here’s the thing, they were both broadcast in 2018. And just like I was saying, my wife and I discovered them recently but we tore through them, they are set in London, they’re part of BBC shows that are out there and all I wanna do is I wanna go visit London, I think I just want to visit anywhere that I can.

The next thing is what’s new in legal. And this is a great link. One of the most prevalent forms of crime against the elderly is financial fraud. Well, this is a really interesting video in which they were tracking people who were doing tech fraud. Basically you would get an email a phishing email saying that you got a credit from Amazon and then they would walk you through making sure you got to the credit, and then they would look like they paid you too much money and then get you to take out money to return the amount, it’s a very elaborate scheme but the video walks through it. And there’s a great punchline in there which is that they’re trying to catch people who are perpetrating this with a glitter bomb. If you know anything about glitter bombs basically they just spread glitter everywhere, that’s impossible to get off, but these individuals the Marc Roper, who’s the guy who hosts that YouTube channel was working in concert with the police to go and nap these folks. It’s a great video to watch, he’s a little bit of a geek and an engineer, which speaks to my heart because I’m a geek as well, but it talks about all of the risks of elder fraud and how the scheme is created and perpetrated, so you definitely wanna check that out.

Now, the final link is what’s new in retirement. And it talks about top jobs for people in COVID scenarios, so basically what those look like going forward. There’s a lot of people whose retirement plans were upset because of either reductions in the values of their accounts, they couldn’t retire as soon as they needed to or they may have lost their job and need to be job seeking again for what they’re gonna be working through retirement. And I think the most important thing that we can get out of it while it’s a really good topic to read about is the importance of having a plan, and there’s no time that is too soon to put a plan together for you to be successful in retirement. And we focus on that here in our firm, we help people plan for retirement, and we use a planning document our Make It Last checkup which allows us to kinda walk through all of the four pillars of retirement to make sure that you’re on the right track for your income, your investments, your tax planning, and your estate planning. And so it’s a great link to read but you should really think about taking action. If you don’t have a plan in place, or if you’re working with somebody that’s not creating a plan I don’t know why, A, you’d be working with them or why they wouldn’t be doing it but it’d be a good opportunity for you to start to have a conversation with us so that we can help you put a plan so that you can be successful in retirement.

So I’m not gonna recap the links for this week but I will let you know that we are relaunching the radio show on April 10th, and that’s going to be at 10:00 a.m., 920AM which is the Trenton ESPN channel, and so I guess we’ll talk sports every once in a while I’m really excited to do that, we’ve got a new co-host and if you can’t catch us live on 10:00 a.m. on Saturday mornings, then you can go ahead and subscribe to the feed, either on Spotify or Apple or Android or wherever you can get your podcasts and we will automatically deliver the newest episodes to you, it’s still gonna be an hour long or so but I’m really excited to relaunch that. And then finally, don’t forget we have the upcoming taxes in retirement webinars, that’s gonna be happening next week, you’ve got to* pre-register for it so that you can get the link for that but it’s absolutely free and we are broadcasting on Wednesday, unlimited space, it’s the internet, we don’t have to worry about seats at a dinner or anything like that but I do want you to pre-register that we can have you in there. This is for you, if you’re a client, if you are a prospective client, a friend of a client, anybody who wants to learn more about taxes in retirement is gonna be a fantastic presentation 100% percent live. I will be there answering questions as I do, if you pop on and you type something into the comments, we’ll be able to handle that as well. So as you can tell, I’m excited about the radio show, don’t miss it resubscribe, I’m excited to deliver all this content to you but otherwise we’ll catch you in a couple of weeks. Bye bye.
